I love their Jibaritos, the best (despite this not being Cuban). The staff is always friendly.

FINALLY!!! Authentic Cuban food. For the guy who said they were steak fries and the pork was grey - stick to eating taco bell. Sabor a Cuba is the first place I've eaten truly authentic Cuban food. I'm Cuban and I've have yet to find anything as good as this except at home or in Miami. If I didn't live so far away I would eat there 3x a week. Service was excellent and food was out of this world. Mamey shake yum!!!!!

Wanted so much to like this place; close by to my new Ravenswood Condo; atmosphere looks appealing; and it's BYOB. But, alas, portions were small and uninspiring, sauce for my Tongue in Cuban Creole Sauce tasted like Dung; the black beans side was a small cup of mostly liquid; and service was abysmal -- never got a water refilled, never offered ice for our Sangria (lucky we actually brought a small baggy of ice for ourselves), and though only 2 other tables occupied, took 20 mins to get anyone's attention to get the Check. Sorry, but there are far better restaurants in this genre. (See my review for Cocina Degalarza)

This place is wonderful! True to form, authentic Cuban food - probably the best I've had since my trip to Cuba in 2001. The ropa vieja was excellent, as were the plantains. My boyfriend had the steak, which was cooked perfectly with a tangy, delicious marinade. BYOB with no corkage fee is a plus. We went on a Tuesday night, and there was no problem with service or getting a table. And very affordable to boot. Try it out!

Wanted to try this place after walking by it to the Metra every day... my advice is to keep walking. Food is disappointing (every pork dish is a consistent grey, "yuca frites w/mojo" are actually steak fries with a side of melted butter.
Only thing poorer than the food is the service... never once got a water glass refill and even though we were seated immediately, it took over 2 hours from seating till we got the check - without having coffee or dessert.

So good! Have been driving by this place forever and finally made a reservation and went with a pretty big group. Server was excellent, made good recommendations. Food was delicious -- croquettes, tamales, ropa vieja, plantains, etc. Really good value and BYOB.

The food at this cozy BYOB is excellent and the waitstaff is gracious, friendly & eager to please. The down side to the service is that they are almost always understaffed which makes for confusion, slow service and errors.

My wife and I love this BYOB, and visit every few months. The 'Pollo Frito' (fried chicken) is the best I've ever tasted anywhere, and the garlic yukka is great. It's a family-run business and the service is personal and attentive. The bonus is that it's BYOB! Typical meal for 2 (shared appetizer, 2 entrees) costs us around $25. Excellent.
